As changes in federal and state funding began affecting our public support systems and the number of visitors to the Pantry steadily increased, our Mansfield community responded in remarkable ways. Community organizations, civic groups, businesses, schools, and even entire neighborhoods contributed at levels we haven't witnessed since 2020.

Many of you have been longtime supporters and have doubled your efforts. It has also been amazing to witness the amount of businesses and groups who were organizing their very first food drive to benefit the Pantry. We are also fortunate to have experienced a surge in volunteers dedicating their time and efforts in a myriad of ways to ensure our Pantry operations run smoothly and efficiently, all while treating our shoppers with care and dignity.

The incredible volume of food and monetary donations we have received has enabled us to stock our shelves through a traditionally low period of donations. Thanks to your support, we have been able to provide an abundance of nutritious supplemental food, including pantry staples like canned vegetables and fruits, grains and pastas, canned proteins, breakfast and snack items, as well as some personal care products. Through partnerships with local markets and grocery stores, we have been able to offer fresh produce, dairy, meats and fish, bread, and other baked goods. Financial contributions have allowed us to purchase additional items that we wouldn't typically be able to offer. In the past months, those seeking assistance at the Pantry have been greeted by compassionate volunteers and have left with enough food to feed their families, along with the assurance that when a member of the Mansfield community is in need, we will all be there to offer our support without judgment or discrimination.

Over the past year, the cost of living has risen across the board. These increases affect everyone, making it even more touching to see that, despite these costs, we recognize the doubled burden on those who were already struggling. Our shoppers include families living on a single income, seniors on fixed incomes, individuals with high medical expenses, and working individuals who are forced to choose between paying for rent or heating their homes. These are our neighbors. Our shoppers are real people striving to support their families and work hard to put food on the table.
Food is a fundamental human right, just like shelter and healthcare. No one should go hungry, especially in Mansfield. We are a town of abundance and it shows as it has been a season of gratitude and sharing. We thank you for your generosity and for coming together to fill in the gaps left by reduced state and federal support.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to you. Wishing everyone a joyful and healthy 2026.
